Petya Mihneva was born in Bulgaria. She studied piano at the State Academy of Music in Sofia and at the Bern University of the Arts, where she received her concert diploma in 2007. She completed her education at the Zurich University of the Arts in the class of Eckart Heiligers and received the diploma in chamber music with distinction in 2009.
Petya is a prize winner of the Duttweiler-Hug Competition for chamber music in Zurich and has won first prize at the „Classical and Conremporary“ International Piano Competition in Bulgaria, the Franz Schubert Piano Competition and the Bulgarian Competition for piano accompaniment. She has also won prizes at the Seiler Competition for piano duo and the International Music Competition „Music and Earth“ in Sofia. As a concert pianist she has given concerts in Bulgaria, Switzerland, Austria, France, Slovenia, Germany, Italy, South Korea and New Zealand, including performances at renowned European music festivals such as the Feldkirch Festival, the Mostly Mozart Festival and the Biennale Berne.
Petya Mihneva is an accompanist at the Zurich University of the Arts and a member of the Norea Trio. In addition she is a much sought-after accompanist in international master classes and competitions.
